FAO:

Given the close relationship between the conservation of biodiversity and the alleviation of hunger and rural poverty, the FAO was designated as the lead agency for UN system coordination in Agenda 21's programme areas of plant and animal genetic resources for food and agriculture. The FAO is currently revising its policies and priorities and is willing to serve all governments in the implementation of the Convention.
