Amb. Ossur Skarphedinsson, on behalf of the Nordic countries, said that they have been actively participating in the fish stocks Conference and believe that, although there are still outstanding issues, a satisfactory solution can be found and the Conference can be successfully concluded next year. Particular attention should also be paid to the issue of pollution by so-called "persistent organic pollutants."
