|
On Wednesday morning, GC-25/GMEF delegates convened in ministerial consultations and the Committee of the Whole (COW). In the afternoon, deliberations continued in the COW, and ministers also attended a meeting on climate change organized by the Government of Denmark. Two contact groups, on the budget and programme of work for 2010-2011 and on chemicals management, as well as the drafting group, met throughout the day. An informal group on support to Africa also convened in the afternoon.

ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION: "
Towards a Low-Carbon Future: Making the climate neutral case to the
public"
|
|
|
|
|
| One year
after the launch of UNEP’s Climate Neutral Network and with
less than 300 days to go before the Copenhagen COP 15, the
roundtable presented an opportunity to take stock of the
experiences in moving towards low-carbon economies and
societies and debate what is needed to make a strong
political, business and consumer case for a low-carbon future. |

SASAKAWA PRIZE:
|
|
|
The UNEP Sasakawa prize is awarded
yearly to individuals or institutions who have made a substantial
contribution to the protection and management of the environment. The
theme for the 2008 awards was "Moving towards a low carbon
economy," the theme of the World Environment Day. This year the
Sasakawa prize went to Sunlabob Rural Energy Ltd. (Lao PDR) and
Practical Action (Peru).
