GEF ASSEMBLY AND COUNCIL CONVENE: US$3.13 BILLION REPLENISHMENT APPROVED
28-30 August 2006 | Cape Town, South Africa
A Special Meeting of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council has approved a Fourth GEF replenishment, with 32 governments agreeing to contribute US$3.13 billion to finance environmental projects over the next four years. The Council meeting was followed by the Third GEF Assembly, which took up issues such as partnerships, the new Resource Allocation Framework, market-based mechanisms, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. UNFF-7 BUREAU MEETS, CONSIDERS NEXT SESSION’S AGENDA

The Bureau for the UN Forum on Forests has met at UN Headquarters, with members considering preparations for the ad hoc expert group meeting on the non-legally binding instrument (11-15 December 2006, New York) and the substantive topics of the Forum’s seventh session (16-27 April 2007, New York).
