WORLD URBAN FORUM III
FOCUSES ON ENVIRONMENT, FINANCE AND SOCIAL INCLUSION

The World
Urban Forum has concluded in Vancouver after taking up such
issues as urban growth and the environment, partnerships and
finance, and social inclusion and cohesion. Organized by
UN-HABITAT and the Government of Canada, the Forum convened
under the theme, “Sustainable Cities – Turning Ideas into
Action.” The report of the meeting will be submitted for
consideration to the 21st session of the UN-HABITAT Governing
Council, scheduled to take place in early 2007.

ADOPTS STANDARD
MATERIAL TRANSFER
AGREEMENT

The first session of
the Governing Body
of the International
Treaty on Plant
Genetic Resources
for Food and
Agriculture (ITPGR)
has adopted a
standard Material
Transfer Agreement.
The session focused
on a number of
issues necessary to
operationalize the
Treaty, with most
matters being
successfully
concluded.

UNICPOLOS-7 ADDRESSES
ECOSYSTEM APPROACHES AND OCEANS
12-16 June 2006 | UN headquarters, New York
The seventh
meeting of the UN Open-ended Informal Consultative Process on
Oceans and the Law of the Sea has ended with agreement on a
report that will be submitted to the General Assembly for
consideration at its next session. The meeting included a
discussion panel to consider ecosystem approaches and oceans.
