ROTTERDAM CONVENTION CONFERENCE ELECTS BUREAU, COMPLETES WORK

The second meeting of the Conference of Parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade has completed its work in Rome. IISDRS coverage.

IPCC FINALIZES REPORT ON CARBON CAPTURE AND STORAGE
22-28 September 2005 | Montreal, Canada
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has held two back-to-back meetings in Montreal, finalizing the Special Report on Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage. Participants also finished their work on the programme and budget for 2006-2008, and discussed issues such as emission scenarios, aerosols, outreach and the Synthesis Report of the Fourth Assessment Report. MEETING ON STRATEGIC APPROACH TO CHEMICALS MANAGEMENT ENDS WITHOUT AGREEMENT

A meeting to develop a strategic approach to international chemicals management (SAICM) has ended with delegates unable to agree on some key elements. Further negotiations will take place in Dubai in February 2006. IISDRS coverage.
