The First Meeting of the CBD Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Protected Areas has made progress on implementation of its work programme. However, procedural setbacks have resulted in bracketing the recommendation on financial resources. OCEANS, MARINE MEETINGS MAKE PROGRESS; SOME ISSUES UNRESOLVED

Progress was reported in two recent meetings in New York: the second International Workshop on the process for global reporting and assessment of the state of the marine environment (GMA-2), and the sixth meeting of the Open-Ended Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and The Law of the Sea (UNICPOLOS-6).
