44th GEF Council Meeting Approves US$369.82 Million Work Program

20 June 2013: The 44th Meeting of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council adopted a Work Program amounting to US$369.82 million, comprising 48 projects on biodiversity, climate change, international waters, land degradation, persistent organic pollutants (POPs), as well as multi-focal area projects. UN Consultative Process on Oceans Focuses on Ocean Acidification

OWG Reaches Half-way Point in Consideration of SDGs

INC-Forests4 Suspended

14 June 2013: The Fourth Session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee for a Legally-Binding Agreement on Forests in Europe (INC-Forests4) made substantial progress in revising the draft negotiating text of a forest convention, but decided to suspend work until autumn because it had run out of time to conclude a few key issues in the text, reach consensus on institutional issues and prepare the interim arrangements for the convention. More.


Bonn Talks Make Progress on Technical Issues but Disagree on Work on Implementation

17 June 2013: The UN Climate Change Conference, which took place in Bonn, Germany, centered on technical issues under the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), as well as on the 2015 agreement and pre-2020 mitigation under the resumed session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP). Work on implementation was stalled due to lack of agreement on the agenda of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI). More.
