18th Forum of LAC Environment Ministers Adopts Quito Declaration

3 February 2012: The 18th session of the Forum of Ministers of the Environment (FEM 18) of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) brought together high-level environment officials who adopted ten decisions and the Quito Declaration. On the final day of FEM 18, the first Meeting of Environment Ministers of the recently constituted Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) convened and created a working group to define a regional environmental agenda. More.

Intergovernmental Meeting on the GEO-5 SPM Reviews Report

31 January 2012: The Intergovernmental Meeting on the Fifth Global Environmental Outlook (GEO-5) Summary for Policy Makers (SPM) endorsed the draft SPM, which will be forwarded to the 12th Special Session of the UN Environment Programme Governing Council for consideration and adoption. More.

Third Intergovernmental Review Meeting on the GPA Adopts Manila Declaration

27 January 2012: The Third Intergovernmental Review (IGR-3) of the Implementation of the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-Based Activities (GPA) concluded with the adoption of the Manila Declaration on Furthering the Implementation of the GPA, and of the GPA's Programme of Work 2012-1016. These outcomes will be forwarded for consideration and adoption by the UN Environment Programme's (UNEP) Governing Council at its 12th Special Session. The Global Conference on Land-Ocean Connections (GLOC) took place immediately prior to IGR-3, in order to provide recommendations to IGR-3. More.
