Africa Regional Meeting Prepares Africa Consensus Statement to Rio+20

25 October 2011: The Africa Regional Preparatory Meeting for the UNCSD (also referred to as Rio+20) was organized by UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the African Union (AU). Participants agreed on a consensus statement and adopted a draft resolution on Africa's effective participation at Rio+20. More.

UNCCD COP 10 Adopts Decisions on GM Governance, Scientific Advice and Indicators

21 October 2011: Delegates at the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP 10) adopted 40 decisions, including on addressing the governance of the Convention's Global Mechanism (GM), scientific advice, and performance and impact indicators. UNEP Executive Director Hails Successful Basel COP 10

21 October 2011: UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Executive Director Achim Steiner hailed the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 10) to the Basel Convention as its most successful meeting ever, expressing hope that its outcomes could contribute to a successful UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), as hazardous waste management is an important component of a green economy.
