CITES Standing Committee Takes Decisions on Elephants, Rhinos, Snakes

22 August 2011: The 61st session of the Standing Committee of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES SC 61) considered a complex agenda and agreed to recommendations on several topics, including trade and conservation issues in great apes, elephants, tigers, rhinoceroses, sturgeons, ramin, bigleaf mahogany and other species. Ozone OEWG 31 Considers HFC Phase-Down Proposal

8 August 2011: The 31st meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG 31) of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer considered two proposals - one by the US, Canada and Mexico, and a second by the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) - to amend the Montreal Protocol to address hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
