Nagoya,
10 October—The fourth meeting of the
Group of Friends of the Co-Chairs on
Liability and Redress (CCLR 4), which
convened from 5-10 October 2010, in
Nagoya, Japan, addressed outstanding
issues with regard to the draft
supplementary protocol on liability and
redress in the context of the Biosafety
Protocol. Originally scheduled for three
days, the meeting was extended
throughout the weekend.

Tianjin Talks Forward Negotiating Texts to Cancun |

Tianjin,
10 October—The
14th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group
on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under
the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 14) and the 12th
session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on
Long-term Cooperative Action under the
Convention (AWG-LCA 12), which convened in
Tianjin, China, from 4-9 October 2010, focused
in particular on those issues that lend
themselves to resolution within the time
available, bearing in mind the need to achieve
balance. Outputs from the sessions comprise
draft texts and notes from the drafting group
facilitators and these will be incorporated into
an information document prepared by the
Secretariat.

COFO 2010 Calls for 360 Degree Perspective on Forests |

9 October—The
20th session of the UN Food and Agriculture
Organization’s (FAO) Committee on Forestry (COFO
2010), which convened from 4-8 October 2010, at
FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy, was dominated
by calls for an inter-sectoral approach to
address problems facing forests.
