ICP 11 Considers Capacity Building in Ocean Affairs |

New York,
26 June—The 11th meeting of the UN
Open-ended Informal Consultative Process
on Oceans and the Law of the Sea
(Consultative Process or ICP 11), which
convened from 21-25 June 2010, at UN
Headquarters in New York, US, discussed
capacity building in ocean affairs and
the law of the sea, among other issues.
A Co-Chairs’ summary of ICP-11’s
discussions will be submitted to the UN
General Assembly for consideration at
its 65th session under the agenda item
“Oceans and the law of the sea.”

RRI Dialogue Addresses Forests, Governance and Climate
Change |

Washington, DC,
23 June—The fifth Rights and
Resources Initiative (RRI) Dialogue on
Forests, Governance and Climate Change
took place on 22 June 2010, in
Washington DC, US. The Dialogue provided
a forum for representatives from
governments and civil society to discuss
recent developments in the global
architecture for a mechanism for
reducing emissions from deforestation
and forest degradation, conservation,
sustainable management of forests and
enhancement of carbon stocks (REDD+).

Ozone OEWG 30 Convenes |
|
|
|
Geneva,
19 June—The
30th meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG
30) of the parties to the Montreal Protocol on
Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer
discussed the financial mechanism,
hydrochlorofluorocarbons and their alternatives,
polyols, and environmentally sound management of
banks of ozone-depleting substances (ODS), among
other topics, at the 15-18 June 2010 meeting in
Geneva, Switzerland.

Climate Modelers Discuss Greenhouse Gas Reduction Analysis |

Seoul,
19 June—The
International Conference on Post-Kyoto Climate
Change Mitigation Modeling, which convened
following the Second East Asia Climate Forum,
from 17-18 June 2010, in Seoul, Republic of
Korea, provided a forum for climate modeling
experts from around the world to discuss
greenhouse gas reduction analysis.
