FISH STOCKS REVIEW CONFERENCE RECOMMENDS FURTHER ACTION |

29 May—The
resumed Review Conference of the Agreement for
the Implementation of the Provisions of the UN
Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)
relating to the Conservation and Management of
Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish
Stocks (UN Fish Stocks Agreement or UNFSA)
developed an outcome document that establishes that the
Informal Consultations of States Parties would
continue and the formal Review Conference could
resume, although not until at least 2015.

CBD WGRI ADDRESSES POST-2010 STRATEGIC PLAN |

Nairobi,
29 May—The
third meeting of the Convention on Biological
Diversity (CBD) Working Group on Review of
Implementation of the Convention (WGRI), which
met in Nairobi, Kenya, from 24-28 May 2010,
adopted 12 recommendations to be submitted to
the tenth meeting of the Conference of Parties
(COP) to the CBD.

Global Environment Facility (GEF)
convened in Punta del Este, Uruguay, on
25-26 May 2010, to review the policies
and operations of the Facility. Assembly
participants took note of the report on
the results of the Fifth GEF
Replenishment and approved amendments to
the Instrument for the Establishment of
the Restructured GEF.

22 May—The
14th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on
Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA)
to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)
convened in Nairobi, Kenya, from 10-21 May 2010.
SBSTTA 14 launched the third edition of the
Global Biodiversity Outlook (GBO 3) and adopted
18 recommendations to be submitted to the tenth
meeting of the Conference of the Parties, to be
held from 18-29 October 2010, in Nagoya, Japan.
