BANGKOK TALKS END WITH LITTLE PROGRESS ON FINANCE AND
MITIGATION |
|
|
Bangkok,
10 October—At
the conclusion of the Bangkok Climate Change
Talks, which took place from 28 September- 9
October 2009, progress on issues such as
adaptation, technology and capacity building was
described as satisfactory, as were discussions
on land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF).
Most felt, however, that no significant progress
was made on Annex I parties’ aggregate and
individual emission reductions in the post-2012
period, and differences also surfaced between
developed and developing countries concerning
whether the outcome from Copenhagen should be an
amendment to the Kyoto Protocol or a single new
agreement. Following the Talks, a Technical
Workshop on Advancing the Integration of
Approaches to Adaptation Planning convened from
12-14 October 2009, under the Nairobi Work
Programme on Impacts, Vulnerability and
Adaptation to Climate Change.
