COP-9 HIGHLIGHTS
Saturday,
6 December
COP-9 delegates continued to convene in contact and informal
groups today. These groups included: good
practice guidance and other information on LULUCF;
on
the programme budget for the biennium 2004-5; national
communications from non-Annex I Parties; research and systematic
observation; a draft decision on Annex I national communications;
capacity-building; among others.

contact group delegates discussed draft conclusions on GPG
for LULUCF and agreed to request SBSTA to invite Parties submissions
on degradation of forests and devegetation by 15 March, 2004,
in order to consider the issue at SBSTA-20.

This
group continued to debate whether or not there should be
a workshop to facilitate an exchange of views and experience
on the implementation of decision 2/CP.7 (capacity building
in developing countries).

| DEMONSTRATION
This
morning, in front of the Fiero Milano (location of COP-9),
Italian NGO protestors braved chilly weather to sport beachwear
and also mimicked high profile politicians in order to draw
attention to the severity of Climate Change.
