The Expert Workshop on the Technology Mechanism was concluded on Tuesday morning, with discussions on the linkages within the Technology Mechanism and with other institutional arrangements.

On Tuesday afternoon the opening plenaries of the fourteenth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-Term Cooperation under the Convention and the sixteenth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties Under the Kyoto Protocol took place, with discussions focused on the organization of work for the coming year. During the opening ceremony, Suwit Khunkitti, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand, welcomed participants to Bangkok. A minute of silence was observed to mark the tragedies in Japan and Thailand.
UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres requested participants to observe a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the tragedies in Japan and Thailand.
