Seventh Meeting of the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee (POPRC7) to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)

Highlights for Thursday, 13 October 2011
Sixth Meeting of the POPRC

On Thursday, POPRC-7 met in morning and afternoon plenary sessions. The Committee agreed that CNs and HCBD satisfy the Annex D screening criteria and decided to initiate the preparation of draft risk profiles for these substances according to Annex E for consideration at POPRC-8.

The Committee decided to recommend that COP consider listing HBCD under Annexes A, B and/or C of the Convention.

POPRC-7 also adopted decisions relating to intersessional work on alternatives to PFOS in open applications and toxic interactions, and agreed on the next steps for work on SCCPs.

Delegates continued their work on climate change and POPs, on BDEs, on alternatives to DDT and to endosulfan, and on PCP. A Friends of the Chair group on climate change and POPs was scheduled to meet on Thursday evening.
