Stockholm COP agrees
on synergies recommendation
The fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP4) to the Stockholm Convention convened for its second day in Geneva, Switzerland on Tuesday,
5 May 2009.
During the morning plenary, delegates
considered the recommendation of the
Ad Hoc Joint Working Group on Cooperation and Coordination among the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions, and agreed to forward
it to the high-level segment for adoption. Delegates also discussed national
implementation plans.
During the afternoon, delegates considered issues related to financial resources and effectiveness evaluation.
The contact group on new chemicals convened during the morning and early afternoon. The group tasked the Secretariat with preparing a draft decision on waste and recycling of brominated flame retardants.
The contact group on non-compliance convened throughout the day and will continue its work on Wednesday.
