CRC-8 reconvened on Thursday morning and adopted the draft guidance documents (DGDs) for pentaBDE and pentaBDE commercial mixtures, octaBDE commercial and octaBDE mixtures and forwarded them all to the COP for consideration of listing in Annex III. The Committee concluded its technical work on chemicals by deciding to recommend that the COP consider including perfluorooctane sulfonic acid, perfluorooctanesulfonates, perfluorooctanesulfonamides and perfluorooctanesulfonyls in Annex III of the Convention, and adopting the DGD.

The Committee also reviewed draft guidelines to assist parties in preparing notifications for final regulatory actions. Several participants expressed interest in providing comments, and the Committee agreed that both members and observers could submit comments to the Secretariat until the end of May 2012. 

In the afternoon, Reiner Arndt, Chair of the Stockholm Convention Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee (POPRC), presented the outline of a joint working paper on cooperation between POPRC and CRC. Explaining that the paper would compare the work of the two committees and evaluate options for cooperation, Arndt and Chair Al-Easa, who co-authored the outline, invited members to submit comments that could be considered for inclusion in the paper. 

After the Committee reviewed and adopted the draft report of the meeting, Chair Al-Easa gaveled the meeting to a close at 4:18pm, one day ahead of schedule.
