Highlights for Friday, 13 July 2007

On Friday, WGRI 2 delegates adopted recommendations on: options and a draft strategy for resource mobilization; streamlining guidance to the GEF; operations of the Convention; Global Biodiversity Outlook; and implementation of goals 2 and 3 of the Strategic Plan.

Noting WGRI 2’s focus on practical implementation of the Convention at the national level, Chair Rezende de Castro reiterated his government’s commitment to achieving the 2010 target, improving effectiveness of the Convention, and completing negotiations on an ABS regime by 2010. He gaveled the meeting to a close at 6:34 pm.
