Highlights for Tuesday, 7 October 2014
CBD COP 12 & NP COP/MOP 1WG I continued discussions on implementation of the Strategic Plan, and addressed resource mobilization. WG II considered liability and redress, marine and coastal biodiversity, and invasive alien species. A Friends of the Chair group addressed terminology related to “indigenous peoples and local communities.”

During this side event organized by DIVERSITAS, a number of chapter lead authors of the GBO-4 technical support document presented the different lines of evidence used for the assessment of the state of biodiversity. The technical support document investigates current and future biodiversity trends, highlights key actions necessary to reach the Aichi Biodiversity Targets and examines the impacts of policy scenarios. The speakers provided detailed information on findings and country case studies related to specific Aichi Targets.

Participants considered the results of regional workshops held in seven regions, pursuant to paragraph 36 of decision X/29 (organization of regional workshops prior to COP 11).
