Update
for Thursday, 28 June:

|
On
Thursday, The Committee of the Whole met in the morning
and afternoon for a second round of negotiations on institutional
provisions, and concluded its work. Plenary was canceled
pending the outcome of negotiations on the outstanding issues
in the small "Friends of the Chair" group that
met throughout the day and into the evening. The informal
working group on the list of crops and a contact group on
Article 15 (Ex situ collections) met in the afternoon.
Left: members of the Swedish and Belgian delegations
wait in vain for the morning Plenary session that never
convened.

Concluding
the work of the COW, Chair Montanaro Mifsud (right)
noted that progress had been made, although not to the group's
satisfaction, and that necessary decisions still had to
be taken. He noted that a revised text may still be circulated
Friday morning, and thanked delegates for their patience.

Behind closed doors

On
Thursday, all the action appeared to be happening in closed
sessions. The contact group on Article 15 met in the Lebanon
Room (right)...

...
while the mysterious "Friends of the Chair" group
met in the Pakistan Room. Note the trolley of sandwiches and
drinks by the door - it would appear that members of the group
worked through the lunch hour. |
